FIFA World Cup-2010

FIFA World Cup-2010 was the 19th World Cup. It was held in 10 different stadiums in South Africa, from 11 June to 11 July 2010. In the competition altogether 32 teams were participated for the 64 matches. The teams were divided into 8 groups The opening match was played between the host country South Africa and Maxico in the Soccer City Stadium of Johanesburg on 11 June and the match ended draw scoring 1-1-goal.

                  
Spain, the team from group H and the Netherland, the team from group-E reached the grand finale of the World Cup-2010. Spain has been able to win the World Cup- 2010 for the first time in its long history and it has erased its stain of 'an unlucky team' sustained for several decades. Netherland became the second winner (Runner up). Germany and Uruguay took the third and the fourth places respectively. Spain won their first world cup title from the extra time. None o finale scored a single goal. Spanish player Andres Iniesta score in the 106th minutes. His goal made the restless supporters goal could stop the match from extending to the penalty shoot-outs. The grand finale was also held in the same stadium where the opening game was played. With this victory, Spanish government at once decided to observe '5 day' public holidays to celebrate the historic victory

 The pleasure of the FIFA World Cup-2010 along with the buzzing of Vuvuzela and Columbian celebrity Shakira dance and 'one more' for 'Waka Waka' (this time for Africa) has all come to an end. With distinctive features alike new land, new champion, downfall of the traditional superpowers, unexpected results and many others, the FIFA World Cup-2010 has bid farewell to the African continent in Soccer City with the promise to meet again in Brazil in 2014 AD for the 20th FIFA World Cup.
